My name is Phil Ranson. I have over 35years experience as a senior finance professional working in industry. I can transform your Excel spreadsheets making them far more efficient to use. But I am a volunteer – I don’t want to be paid if I work with you. Instead you can choose a charity that will benefit from my work with you.


How can I turbocharge your spreadsheets ?

  • Through strong spreadsheet design with a clear disciplined process

  • Through appropriate use of Excel functionality

  • Through automation of your processes using VBA programming (sometimes called Macros) specifically designed for your application


These techniques are very powerful. It is not unusual to reduce the time taken to update a poorly performing spreadsheet from several hours to just a few minutes !


How would we work together ?

  • First you contact me and we arrange a meeting. At that meeting I would get an understanding of your spreadsheet need and how I can help you. We would agree an hourly rate for my work and the charity that would benefit. We can also agree a ceiling for the costs if you wish. I would not charge for this initial meeting but I would ask you to reimburse my reasonable travel expenses from my home in Mid Wales.

  • I would then take a copy of your spreadsheet and commence work on it. We would maintain dialogue via telephone and email. When the work is complete I would arrange a handover meeting.

  • At the handover meeting I would train the users how to operate the new process. This should also verify the efficiency saving it delivers for you. I will report to you my man hours in support of the project and we will agree the amount to be paid by you to the chosen charity. I will ask you to reimburse my reasonable travel expenses for the handover meeting.

  • You will send me proof of the agreed donation made to the chosen charity.

  • I will provide support to you for the new process, initially via telephone and email.
